We will have the normal class on Saturday, September 5, but we will be closed on Monday, September 7 for Labor Day. Please enjoy the holiday responsibly!

Weekly Roundup:

1. 10 Ways to Maximize your Coaching Experience. Some of these seem like common sense, but they are all great ways to get the most out of your time at the gym with a coach. Remember, we are here for you, so if you need/want anything please let us know!

Since I get complaints if I don’t post anything from NPR…

2. I’m still upset over all this food wasting I just learned about, but maybe there is hope. Denmark Might Be Winning The Global Race To Prevent Food Waste.

Danes today throw out 104 pounds of food per year on average compared to an estimated 273 pounds per person per year in the U.S.

Each of us throws out 273 pounds of food per year! I’m going to get better at this.

3. I get nervous about posting articles about how much one should eat, but this is important. The key is to know how much activity you are doing and how much food/calories/energy you need to support that activity. You also need to know what types of food best support your activity levels. The big thing is that you should not be starving yourself to reach weight-loss or fat-loss goals. Listen to the story below from NPR (again, yay!) for more on female athlete triad syndrome, which occurs when women are malnourished. This is information to arm yourself with. This is not a recommendation for anyone, but it’s something I think you should know.
