It’s Wednesday FriendsDay! Bring a friend that has never tried CrossFit to any class today!

Now, I’m sure most of you have seen the headlines by now – bacon causes cancer! It’s all over the place and everyone is freaking out.

Of course (as usual) with the media, it seems like everything is being sensationalized. The headline from the Guardian reads: “Processed meats rank alongside smoking as cancer causes – WHO.” Seriously? Eating processed meat is as bad as smoking? That can’t be right, can it?

Read the Guardian article for yourself, but please read this article from Wired next to really understand what is going on. Bacon Causes Cancer? Sort of. Not Really. Ish.

Look, processed meats may increase your risk for cancer. But by how much? Is it worth giving up all processed meats and read meat? I’ll leave the answers up to you, but please read the articles above before making any decisions. And do more research. Remember, headlines sell papers (or get clicks) and that is about all. Rarely do we find facts in headlines and social media blurbs.
