This Wednesday is Wednesday FriendsDay! Bring a friend to any class to try out CrossFit for the first time!

The CrossFit Games have come and gone once again and since we use the Games/Open as our “season” it’s time to think about preparing for the future.

You don’t have to think too much about it day to day, that’s our job, but you should have some goals going forward. I’m never going to qualify for Regionals or the Games, and I am not training to do that, but there are some things I still want to accomplish in my training.

So, where do you want to be next year? The Open starts at the end of February and maybe you have the goal of being able to go RX’d on all the workouts in 2017. What do you need to do to make that happen? Get stronger? Add some skills like double unders or pistols? We don’t know what’s going to show up, so we’ve got to prepare for anything.

If you do have a goal, make sure you have a plan to get you there. Don’t just arbitrarily go about your training without a focus on your specific goal. Put in the extra work after class and do it regularly. Make a schedule and stick to it. Randomly practicing a skill gets you random results.

We’re technically in our off season right now, so that means we can focus on building strength and fixing imbalances. As we approach the Games season we will ramp up the engine building and focus on work capacity. But if we don’t build a good base now, that work capacity won’t matter.

Take some time to think about what you’d like to accomplish going forward and please let us know how we can help. Looking forward to another great year of training.
