Monday, July 30
Hope you are all enjoying the Olympics. I have a new appreciation for all of the events ever since I got involved in CrossFit. Now that I have tried some gymnastics, sprinting, swimming, weightlifting and more, I realize how hard it all is and how hard these athletes train to get to that level. If you are not watching, make sure to check out the replays online to see the near perfect technique in so many disciplines. I watched the 56 kg men (123 pounds) weightlift today and North Korea's Om Yun Chol put on a display. He clean and jerked 168 kg - more than triple his body weight. It was awesome and inspiring to watch. I think about how much stronger I can still get. Maybe I won't ever lift triple my body weight, but I think double could be possible. It's a lifelong journey and I don't need to get there any time soon, but I like to set some long term goals.
