So CrossFit HQ asked this question the other day - "What are your crutches in a workout?" Some of the choices they gave were needing to always be close to chalk or always needing a specific jump rope. I can think of a few more like having the right music playing or having the gym be the perfect temperature. I'm not asking this question to make anyone feel bad. We all think of this sort of stuff, but the real question is whether you actually let it affect you. Do your workouts suffer because you are taking a lot of breaks to chalk up or do you not approach a workout in the proper mental state because you think it's too hot or cold.

Try to focus on the work at hand. Even if the conditions aren't perfect, can you push through and make yourself better? Remember, we are training to be better at life and life will rarely present perfect circumstances. Are you still going to carry all the groceries at once if it's kind of hot out? Being in the right state of mind can make a huge difference in your performance and the effectiveness of your workout. Try to block out all of the other stuff and get the job done!
