Last week I posted some links to a few nutrition sites and a lot of you told me that was helpful. I am going to make an effort to post on nutrition at least once a week from now on, but if you have questions please ask us. We sometimes get caught up in the workout and training and forget about the nutrition part, which is terrible. The foundation for any good fitness/health program is nutrition, and if you are not eating well your performance in the gym will suffer. I started reading the site Eat to Perform and found the concept interesting. I wasn't sure that's what I was doing. (Honestly, I haven't dug that deep into the site, I just took the name to heart.) I was a little too worried about staying lean and I wasn't eating enough to support my workouts. In just a week of eating more carbs before and after my workout I feel completely different. By different I mean better. I have so much more energy going into my workout and my performance is drastically different. Just today I PR'd on Diane and hit three snatches at 85% that I regularly miss.
All I did was add a piece of fruit before my workout - apples or bananas for me - and I added instant brown rice into my post workout meal. I know it has only been a week, but I really do feel much better. I haven't really seen much change in my body composition either. I'll keep you posted on that.
The big question is if you are eating to perform or look a certain way. I'm not saying either is right or wrong, but just figure out what you want to do and eat the foods that will get you to your goals. Like I said before, if you have questions just ask!
