A little life affirmation today. We've talked about this concept when it comes to food and diet, but this is a great article reminding us that everything in life isn't perfect and that is ok. The post is about our expectations vs. reality. Do you expect the impossible every day just to be dissappointed when it doesn't happen? Or as the author puts it:
I think I need to adjust my expectations so that, if I achieve half of this perfect day, then THAT is a perfect day. I don’t want to stop striving for perfection cuz that’s what makes me a healthier, better person. But I also don’t want to make myself feel like a failure when reality creeps in and thwarts the perfection!
Of course, we get to apply this life lesson to the gym as well. How many times have you pictured yourself doing a workout only to get started and have it look nothing like what was going on in your head? The important part is how you handle it when it doesn't go your way. Did the overhead squats and double unders ruin your day, or did you accept the challenge to improve next time? Strive for perfection, but don't beat yourself up when it doesn't happen!
