OK, more info on why we need to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. If you are not getting enough sleep your health is suffering. There is no way around it. You will not be as healthy as you could be, your performance in the gym will definitely suffer and you could be setting yourself up for heart disease in the future. However, the also point out that sleeping too much can lead to similar problems. Researches aren't sure exactly why too much or too little sleep leads to poor cardiovascular health, but it's something we should be paying attention to now.
Findings showed that adults who slept fewer than five hours a night had 50 percent more calcium in their coronary arteries than those who slept seven hours. Those who slept nine hours or more a night had even worse outcomes, with 70 percent more coronary calcium compared to those who slept seven hours.
