Wednesday, November 25

Remember!!! Our Holiday Schedule means that there will be no 6 pm and 7pm classes tonight (Wednesday 11/25). The remainder of the day will be a normal schedule with the gym will be closing after the 5 pm class. Now onto CrossFit's latest attempt to improve healthiness:

"If we require warning labels on toxic or dangerous products like tobacco, why don’t we hold sugar-loaded beverages to the same standard?"

The founder of CrossFit, Greg Glassman, is on a mission to secure labeling of sugary beverages to warn consumers of the effects sugar has on our bodies. CrossFit promotes a diet comprised of Meats and veggies, nuts and seeds, little starch, and no sugar. Obviously, soda or pop is not in line with the lifestyle we promote because of what it does to our bodies. continues: "As consumption of sugary drinks has doubled in the United States over the past three decades, diabetes rates have tripled, especially in our most vulnerable communities. While big soda profits, California’s health care costs rise, draining the state’s economy. California’s Sugar-Sweetened Beverages Safety Warning Act (SB 203) will mandate safety warnings on all sugary drink bottles, cans, vending machines, and dispensaries that will read:

STATE OF CALIFORNIA SAFETY WARNING: Drinking beverages with added sugar(s) contributes to obesity, diabetes, and tooth decay.

Health warning labels empower consumers to make informed choices about what they purchase. Big soda doesn’t want the word to get out in California. But we deserve the right to know: soda is killing us."

Obviously if this is put into act in California we will see attention brought to it nationwide. What do you think about the fight to have warning labels on sugar-filled drinks?

As your coaches we are ALWAYS happy to talk with you about the way you eat. We study the way different foods are processed in our bodies and the benefits of cutting sugar out of the picture. Please come to us if you have questions about the results you're getting or if you are curious about how the way you eat is impacting your body and fitness goals.

In case you haven't noticed, we've added some new equipment to the gym which we'll be putting to use right away. Please help us to keep the new AirDynes in great working order! Let us know right away if you ever see or feel that one may need repairs so that we can keep them operating at their peak. Thank you in advance for helping out!
