What is the CrossFit Open?The CrossFit Open is the first part of the CrossFit Games Season. The Open is a five-week, five-workout competition held in the winter in CrossFit affiliates and garage gyms around the world. Workouts are released online each week. Anyone who's at least 14 years old can sign up, and join in the first stage of the CrossFit Games season. With the addition of scaled workouts the Open has been made achievable for all levels of athletes and CrossFit experience. This year's Open kicks off February 25, 2016. Why should you sign up as part of the CrossFit 616 Team? The CrossFit Open never fails in putting together some great tests of fitness capacity. The five workouts that will be released will test the skills, strength (mental and physical), and endurance that we train all year. Our year of training cycles for us to perform our best during the Open. By signing up and participating in the Open you will be allowing yourself to test what you’ve worked on each day. Often times an Open workout will be repeated year to year, and we will use Open Workouts as benchmarks throughout the year. This offers a great tool in seeing your progress and development year after year.
Why do we need you to be part of the Open at CrossFit 616 this year? In 2016, our goal as your coaches is to make the Open at CrossFit 616 a community event. If you sign up for the Open under CrossFit 616 you are a member of the CrossFit 616 team. That means your score can contribute to our overall team score. We want to finish the Open with our highest team score to date, so we need you on the team!
All year we build each other up with love and support while we sweat next to one another. We want to use that love and support to fuel an atmosphere that pushes each member of the 616 Family to accomplish what they never thought was possible. Our community here at CrossFit 616 is something that other boxes dream of. We have athletes who truly care about one another and want to see one another succeed no matter the circumstances. With the support of our community each athlete can push themselves a little harder, complete a few more reps, and accomplish new tasks. We want this community event to be an atmosphere filled with high energy, crazy loud cheering, and the amazing support that only CrossFit 616 athletes can offer one another.
Whether you’ll be completing the workouts RX’d or scaled, please sign up for the 2016 CrossFit Open. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been doing CrossFit for years or months, sign up. Use this opportunity to push yourself harder than ever before on these five WODs. Use the atmosphere and support from your community to push further than you’ve pushed before. Community is always bigger than one individual. Community is what defines CrossFit 616. Let’s use our community to fuel us through the Open this year!
