Friday, February 12
Don't forget that we have two CrossFit classes on Saturday now. 9:30 and 10:30 am. And we still have Elements at 8:30 am.
Now it's time for the Weekly Roundup! Here's some of the interesting things I saw this week.
1. Ryan Hall, America’s Fastest Marathoner, Slows Down Ryan Hall was one of the all-time great marathoners in American history, but he has been forced into retirement by his failing body. This is the story of a man who went for it when he was young and was great, but his choice to specialize in the marathon early took a toll on his body. Maybe it was the right choice to go all out for his goals when he had the chance, or maybe he should have diversified his training to sustain a longer career. Who knows? But one thing we can take away is that there is too much of a good thing. Training requires rest and recovery. Hammering away at the miles or weights year after year will take a toll on the body. It's not necessarily a sad story, just something we should all know. Whether it's physical training or the chores of every day life, we all need a break from time to time.
2. Excellence is not an act, but a HABIT. A little follow up on the post from a while ago.
