Wednesday, February 15

I just happened to be talking to someone the other day about the workout for today. We were remembering her first Open and how, even though she was new to CrossFit, she signed up to test where she was in her fitness journey. She had never clean and jerked 95 pounds before attempting 13.4.

So, we started the 7 minute clock and worked on the clean and jerk until time expired. Then we restarted the clock and tried again. Then we did it again and again until her technique and strength met to give her that first clean and jerk at 95 pounds!

I don't remember how far she got in the workout overall, but it does not matter. The Open provided an environment and stimulus to push her to keep trying and accomplish something she had never done before. She told me she still remembers that day and how big of an accomplishment that was for her.

There are plenty of other examples of this over the years - first muscle ups, first chest-to-bar pull ups, clean and jerk PRs, etc...

That's what the Open does. You find that inner push to do things you've never done before. The environment of Friday Night Lights and seeing others give it all they have can be very inspiring.

So, if you haven't done it yet go join the 616 team! If you sign up make sure you join the AFFILIATE and the TEAM! Click here to sign up today!
