The CrossFit Open is just around the corner - 18.1 gets announced Thursday, February 22!

For some of you, this is exciting news. For some, it's a little scary. And for some, you're probably wondering what the heck is the Open?

The Open is the first stage of the CrossFit Games season and the largest community event of the year. Every year, hundreds of thousands of athletes come together to compete in the worldwide, online competition.

We use the Open as a yearly test of where we are in our fitness journey. There is no pressure to do anything special, but it does give you an opportunity to push yourself to a new level, and more times than not, we see special things happen.

CrossFit will announce one workout a week for five weeks and you can register and enter your score online. You'll see your name on the leaderboard alongside the hundreds of thousands of other CrossFitters around the world.

We love the Open as a test, but it's also a great community event right here in our gym. We saw some great efforts on the Thursday night head-to-head matchups and at Friday Night Lights and can't wait to do it all again.

Registration for the Open starts this Thursday, January 11 and there are RX'd and Scaled divisions for each workout, but you don't have to decide on a division until you see each workout. 

So, get signed up, join the 616 team and be a part of the biggest CrossFit event in the world!
